SCOPE OF SERVICES

  • Blower Door Testing and Blower Door Guided Air Sealing:  This is a scientific test that involves the use of a large fan (Blower Door) that will be mounted in an exterior door to measure air infiltration into your home.  The technician should be able to seal some of the major sources of leakage while at your home.
  • Duct Testing and Duct Sealing:  Another large fan (Duct Blaster) will be used to measure leakage in your duct system.  If leaks are found, duct mastic (grey plaster type material) and / or silver duct tape may be used to seal accessible portions of your duct system.  During this test a device will be used to measure air flow.  If, based on this test, your ducts are found to be undersized (low air flow) – duct sealing will NOT take place.  If this condition is found the technician will give you a Low Flow form that you may want to review with your HVAC contractor.
  • Installation of Compact Fluorescent Bulbs:  Energy saving compact fluorescent light bulbs will be

installed in your home at the vendor’s discretion.  Please note the following:

Bulbs will be installed in areas that are no more than 10’ high.

Compact fluorescent light bulb installation cap:  15 standard, 10 specialty

It may not be possible to retrofit certain sockets with comparable energy efficient bulbs

No spare bulbs will be left behind.

  • Installation of Water and Hot Water-Saving Measures:  Includes installation of low-flow showerheads and faucet aerators, as well as hot water pipe insulation where appropriate.  10’ length limit.
  • Identification of Older, less-efficient Appliances:  You may qualify for incentives for the replacement of older, inefficient refrigerators, clothes washers and dehumidifiers.   Freezers and Refrigerators must be 10 years or older.  Clothes washer must be electric.
  • Identification of Older, Less-Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment:  You may qualify for incentives for the replacement of older, less-efficient HVAC equipment.
  • Identification of insufficient insulation:  You may qualify for incentives for the upgrade of insulation.
  • Summary of Visit:  Explanation of what services were done and findings from testing.  Explanation of rebates and financing options.
